Expressing Love To God

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?” Psalm 8:3-4

The beginning of worship is considering God. When we see God for who he is we cannot help but stand in awe of him. For a lost person their first act of worship is surrender to God. In fact the heart of worship is surrender. It is when we see God as the most important thing in our lives.

When we become Christ-followers our passion is to worship God in every aspect of our lives. Jesus said that we are to “Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, mind.” He then told us to “Love our neighbor as our self.” We worship God by committing everything to him vertically, but we also worship him in the horizontal aspects of our lives, as we treat others in a way that honors Christ.

“I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.” Psalm 86:12

We exist to worship God, and to bring him pleasure.

Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.” Matthew 4:10

“You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:22-24
