Dr. Leo Guerrero

Associate Pastor/Hispanic Pastor

Dr. Leo, born in Santiago, Chile, moved to Miami with his parents, Mr. Ramon Guerrero and Mrs. Iris Guerrero, when he was 15 years old. He married Lorena Barria, daughter of a church planter; presently, they have been married for 33 years. Leo and Lorena have three children, Priscilla, Jessica, and Lucas. The author received his Assoc. Degree in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute and his Bachelor's Degree in Interpersonal and Group Communications from Trinity International University. He completed his Master's as well as his Degree of Doctorate of Philosophy in Christian Counseling through Faith Theological Seminary. Leo's first pastoral work was done in Miami, through the Christian and Missionary Alliance, where he also began his ordination. Years later, he was called to be the pastor of "Casa de Oracion", becoming a member of The Miami Baptist Assoc. and credentialed as a Southern Baptist Minister. Leo has been serving as the pastor of the Hispanic Congregation since 2006. He is presently Assoc. Pastor at FVBC and serves part time as professor for the Hispanic certificate program at Campbell University Divinity School.



Mitch Duncan

Minister of Music and Worship

Mitch was born in Raleigh and has served churches in Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina. He has a Bachelor of Science of Music in Recording Arts degree from UNC-Asheville and a Master of Church Music degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He has been married to his wife, Carol, since 1994. They love their cats like children and they both enjoy time spent in God’s beautiful creation while playing disc golf. Mitch began serving at FVBC in March of 2016.



Kim Harris

Executive Assistant & Financial Secretary

Kim was born and raised in the small eastern NC town of Bear Grass. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management from East Carolina University in 1992. Kim comes to us with 8 years of experience working for other local churches. She has been married to her husband Kevin for 23 years and together they have 3 daughters. In addition to her duties at FVBC, Kim is very active in her church serving in multiple capacities. During her free time, Kim enjoys cooking, spending time with family and friends and hanging out at Lake Gaston.



Carol Skamanich

Administrative Assistant

Carol and her husband Mike relocated to Fuquay-Varina from Scranton, Pennsylvania in September 2013 to be close to their daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren. She accepted Jesus as her Savior in 1975 and has been serving at Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church since January 2014. Carol comes to us with over 30 years of administrative experience, and worked at Prudential for over 20 years prior to relocating. She enjoys cooking, baking and most of all spending time with her family.



Gregg Boren

Facility Manager

Gregg has been serving at Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church since May of 2013. Prior to his time at FVBC he worked for the Town of Fuquay-Varina serving in the Parks and Recreation Division. He has been married to his lovely wife Penny for 21 years, and in his free time you will find Gregg at the coast fishing.


Barbara Stephens

WEECare Asst. Director

Barbara has been a Christ –follower since 1981, and she is eternally thankful for God’s grace and faithfulness in her life. She and Garry have been married 32 years, and have a son, James (24). She is a Raleigh native and graduated from NCSU with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. Over the past 5.5 yrs. Barbara has enjoyed working with our WEECare children. In her free time, Barbara enjoys Bible Study, hiking, anything outdoors, and spending time with her black lab Molly.
